This performance of The Nutcracker is captured live in high definition from the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia in Moscow. The scenario by Yuri Grigorovich after the folk tale by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffman (based on the original scenario by Marius Petipa). The character Marie is performed by Nina Kaptsova with Artem Ovcharenko as The Nutcracker/The Prince.

The Nutcracker is a ballet traditionally performed during the Christmas season, filled with magic and wonder as the child Marie’s toys come to life, including the wooden nutcracker soldier prince. Tchaikovsky’s score features the famous ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ in Act II.
