Sharmill Films acquires Xavier Dolan’s acclaimed new film MOMMY for Australasian theatrical distribution in 2015

Sharmill Films is very proud to announce its acquisition of Xavier Dolan’s highly acclaimed new feature film MOMMY for Australasian theatrical distribution in the first quarter of 2015.

A competition title at the Cannes Film Festival, Mommy was awarded the Jury Prize, sharing the honour with French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard's Goodbye to Language. Mommy has since been announced as the official entry from Canada for the 87th Academy Awards to be held next year.

Mommy centres on an explosive 15 year old boy with ADHD and his widowed single mother. But when Kyla, a new neighbour, enters their lives, things begin to change. The film stars Anne Dorval (who portrayed Dolan’s character’s mother in his 2010 feature I Killed My Mother), Olivier Pilon and Suzanne Clément.

The theatrical deal was brokered by Anick Poirier of Les Films Séville and Natalie Miller of Sharmill Films.
